International Women’s Day 2024: Celebrating Equity and Compassion

On March 8th, 2024, the world came together to commemorate International Women’s Day, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
As we reflect on the progress made in advancing women’s rights, we also acknowledge the work that still needs to be done to achieve true gender equity.
This year, the AHWRCDI (Access to Health, Women’s Right and Community Development Initiative) led a special event that focuses on women’s equity and a visit to a local orphanage.
The orphanage visit was an opportunity for us to not only show our support for the children but also to recognize the challenges faced by many women who are single mothers or sole providers for their families.

The event began with a sensitization program that highlights the importance of gender equality and the need to empower women in all aspects of life.
Participants had the chance to engage in open and honest conversations about the systemic barriers that prevent women from reaching their full potential.
Speakers shared inspiring stories and practical strategies to address the challenges faced by women in our society.
From improving access to education and healthcare to promoting women’s participation in politics and business, the speakers shared concrete actions we can take to promote gender equality.
Following the sensitization program, the AHWRCDI team visited a nearby orphanage, where they spent time with the children, provided essential supplies, and engaged in activities that foster a sense of community and support.
By spending time with these children, we helped create a brighter future for the next generation of women and girls around the world.
